Birth Control Method???

Question

I'm new to choosing a birth control method. I just had a 6 month old daughter and I want to wait until I get married to have another baby. Which birth control plan stops your period but  also safe. Please tell me about your  experience.

I was on the depo for almost two years, I still had a period but for maybe 3/4 days and it was just spotting BUT I do NOT recommend this at all if you want to be able to get pregnant directly after going off of it! It took my fiance and I 7 months to conceive. I read for other people it has taken a lot longer though! It also made me gain weight!

I would get on the pill. If you get on depo you are going to have a hard time trying to conceive.

With the copper IUD your period won't stop because there's no hormones in it to prevent a period. With the Mirena IUD periods stop for many women but some women also still experience periods, it depends on the person. 
Nuvaring, the combination pill, and the patch are three weeks of hormones and one week off, during the week off you get your period. But many women skip the week off and go straight to their next active pills, ring, or patch to avoid a period. Consult with your doctor.
The mini pill stops periods for some women and others still experience periods. It depends.
Depo stops periods for some women and doesn't stop them for others, again, it depends.
Nexplanon arm implant again is a hit or miss, it can stop your period but doesn't always.
All of these methods are safe and effective when used according to your doctor's instructions. If you're sure you don't want another baby until you're married I suggest Nexplanon or an IUD because there isn't room for user error with these methods. You can't screw it up by accident.
I'd book an appointment with your OBGYN and talk about your options. Make it clear you want something to stop your period.

If you're absolutely sure about not wanting another I'd say depo. I was on the depo shot and it completely stopped my period but there's also times where you can have your period for 1-2 months straight. Im not as happy with it because I'm ttc and the depo usually takes 4-10 months for pregnancy but of course there's always that small percentage that you will. I've been off it since February and still haven't gotten my period or a positive pregnancy.

The copper iud was the best decision I ever made. It's slightly uncomfortable to put in and there is some cramping afterwards that will last a few days to a week max, but it's nothing you can't handle--comparable to a period cramp. Me and my boyfriend are so confident now that I have it and it lasts for like 10 years. You are 99.4% protected from pregnancy, so my SO normally doesn't even pull out. Hope this helps!

i have the implant, no problems. bled for 2 weeks after it and i havent had a periof in 3 months.
