Medication during labor?

Question

What's everyone planning on using during labor? I don't like the idea of not having control and would like to try laboring in some other position besides on my back because it doesn't leave the pelvis as open as it could be... but I also don't want to sign up for no drugs if I change my mind lol. What's everyone planning on using? 
I say planning because we all know everything can change once you go into labor.

I did unmedicated last time, getting an epidural this time.
I have PTSD and the pain from labour was too much for my body to handle mentally and i disassociated, and dont remember much from my first labour/delivery. Hoping pain relief will prevent that this time.

I had 2 unmedicated births. and plan to have all subsequent births be unmedicated.

I had an epidural at 6cm, had to get another at 8cm, and it wore off COMPLETELY by the time I pushed. I felt evvvverything, moral of the story is DO NOT get one too early

I had an epidural and it was amazing. I was in such excruciating pain from the relentless back labor. I was completely out of control of my body, I could still move my legs with some concentration 😂 but it didn't take long to push her out at all.

No matter what you can change your mind during labor and get meds if it becomes too much for you. There is a point where an epi is no longer an option, but that's pretty far into labor. IV pain relief can be a good option if you don't want the restrictions of an epidural and just want to take the edge off the pain.

I was the same as you, not completely against medication or epidural but wanting to try to do it without. And I did! I was in labor for 16 hours (with back labor 😩), 10 of which I did at home and only pushed for 20 minutes before he was out! Like you said, I didn't want to labor on my back or in bed, and when it came to it - I felt SO much better standing or sitting on a yoga ball during contractions. Lying down was horrible! I was glad I could feel what I was doing and I'm so glad I chose unmedicated, but if you feel like you need it in the moment, do it! Every woman and birth is different. Either way you get your baby in the end.
