giving baby bananas?

I have regular bananas and was wondering if I can just mash them up and give it to my 5 month old? Is it safe?

Bananas  are a fine first food but you should wait until 6 months, also keep in mind they can cause constipation. 
My daughters first food was avocados because it has lots of healthy fats.

Honesty my child htedthe cereal and I started him just after he turned 5 months old. But I would mix his food with formula so it was runny and easier for him

Most pediatricians recommend waiting until at least 6 months, and usually starting off with rice cereal that has a lot of formula/breastmilk so it's kinda watery. It's supposed to help them adjust to regular food.

If it's baby's first food you may want to add some water and stir really well so it's thinner. Bananas can be a little thick when just mashed
