uterine fibroid. anyone else?

Well I was taken out of work about 2 weeks ago because I have a uterine fibroid (whom we are calling Herbert) the size of a medium cantaloupe sitting half in and half out of the top of my uterus. He is blocking my right lung and cutting off my intestines which really doesn't feel good. I have opted for a csection (and did so before I knew about the fibroid). I have gotten a lot of backlash for wanting a csection but I figure it's not your body so why don't you just shut the hell up. But now that Herbert has decided to join the party it is the safest option to get my girl out. The thing now is that once she is out when they go in to deliver Herbert I will have to have a hysterectomy. So this will be my only baby. I'm ok with that. I have come to terms with having an only child biologically. But my mother in law is definitely not happy. She keeps asking why I have to have a hysterectomy and I keep explaining to her that when they go in to get the fibroid because of it being on the in and outside it will shred my uterus leaving it useless. She doesn't get it and it's very frustrating. She will have 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. You would think she would be satisfied. But whatever.
