Is it possible to just pump breast milk instead of going through with the full breast feeding process?

My child's father and I aren't together so I feel like it'd be hard to breast feed him since some days he'll be with him but I couple possibly give him breast milk to store at his house.. but that sound weird to me. But I know breast milk is healthier for the baby. Also. When I was a baby I was allergic to a certain formula and my mama said it took forever for them to get it straightened out about which formula was best for me. This is my first child.
