not sure if we should find out and then share the surprise as if we didn't know?

For me it felt really personal, and I didn't want to find out with all eyes watching me. I'm not shy, but I've never been one to want all eyes on me, and either is my husband. We found out in the ultrasound with our first, then had friends over for a party and told them a cute way. We'll do the same for this baby as well.

No. I had the doctor's office tell my neighbor over the phone and she wrote it on a piece of paper for me. I took it to Party City and got a box of balloons filled up. My daughter opened the box to find blue balloons. That said, just a few minutes before this, I loosened the tape on the box to make it easier for her (she's only 1.5) and both my husband and I caught a glimpse of the blue balloons. 😂

I've been thinking a lot about this, we're doing a gender scan at 16 weeks, so I feel like because we'll both be there... that we'll see the screen and won't be able to resist wanting confirmation of whatever we think we see. 🤷🏼‍♀️ we're too excited! 
But we do want to do like a reveal video. I think what we'll do is find out ourselves, and then do a reveal for our daughter 😄 I think she'll probably react in a more exciting way than we would lol

Some do and some don't. Our cousin and her husband looked at the envelope the Thursday before their gender reveal. It was a special moment that they could share together. My DH said we should do that since it's our first.

We decided that the two of us would find out and we would reveal to everyone else. This is our first baby and also the first grandchild on both sides of the family. Everyone is so excited, and I want to see the look on their faces when we tell them. I also think it's special for us to find out together, just the two of us, without everyone watching our reactions. It's your preference though on what you choose to do! ☺️

We didn't know for my first. They won't show you on the 20 wk scan if you tell them you don't want to know. They did write it down and put it in an envelope for us. Our friend's family owns a bakery, so they put a line of colored filling in the cake for us to cut into at our shower. I agree with most. Share the surprise with your friends and family. (Unless you are just doing it for an older sibling.)
