ovulated on the September 9th

My husband and I are ttc I ovulated on the September 9th that's when I got a smiley face. We BD a bunch I'm hoping this is my month. I tested today but it was negative which I'm only 10dpo and used the dollar tree test. What I'm asking is it still to early to test? I'm so nervous I hoping this is my month I've been having a lot of symptoms of being pregnant.
