HELP! Birth Control Options

Okay so I'm about to get married for the second time. Yeah! And I need to get back on birth control as we would like to wait 1-2 yrs before having our own kid( he has a daughter from his previous marriage). Here's the deal after my divorce I got off of birth control and haven't had sex since then so I haven't really need them. After I got off them Ive gone from a very regular can set your clock by it period to who the hell knows kind of period. Even the amount of flow and length can't seem to make up it's mind. I've devopled acne for the first time in my life. it's taken my 6 yrs to get to a more normal somewhat regular ( I'm not skipping months anymore) period. All becuase I got on then off birth control. I did everything like your suppose to. So my question is does anyone have any suggestions besides condoms, diaphragm, or pulling out(thats how he got his daughter) I would like some suggestions to take to a gynecologist. I'm okay with pills but I'm just worried about this all happening all over again. HELP!
