Boyfriend leaves the detergent lid in the washer when he washes things?

Is this normal? Do people do that?
He says it’s so it gets the soap out of the cap, because he uses it for measuring. 
I’ve always eyeballed the detergent, so I’ve never had the issue of the cap being all gross. 
I’m just so confused. 😂

I usually just rinse the lid under the water... ive never left the lid in the wash lol even if you don’t rinse it it doesn’t get gross it just drips back into the bottle

I used to do it too when I used the kind with the cups lol now I just use the pods. Yeah I just plopped it in. Never did any damage or anything. Lol

I use pods now. But when I used to use liquid, I would always throw the cap in to keep it clean.

I throw mine in the washer too. I have an HE washer so the water won't turn on unless the lid is closed. Otherwise I would just rinse it out and put it back.
