Our battle begins

I'm expecting a little boy, due April 1, 2018. Unfortunately, we have a long road ahead of us.

His little bladder is filling up due to a blockage in his urethra called PUV. Over the next several weeks, we will have to undergo genetic testing and kidney function testing to see if our little guy is viable outside. If all is well, we will be sent 6 hours away to place a coiled tube through his abdomen to drain his bladder. Then we will be monitored closely for adequate amniotic fluid.

God be willing, we MAY make it to our due date, if everything goes according to plan. As soon as I deliver, he will need emergency surgery to fix his blockage. From there, we MAY face kidney failure, dialysis, and transplant, OR we may only face a few accidents every now and then growing up. Every day I have with him is going to be a blessing, and it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Since I have found very few personal stories out there, I've decided to update this thread every now and again. That way, if someone finds their self in the same fight, they may learn a thing or two of our process.
