Doctor didnt order the right blood test?

Question

Is this normal- I went to the doctors to say my pregnancy tests were positive and to see what the next steps were.
He said I need to get the blood test which I went and got done. I assumed this was to check the HCG levels, but when i checked my copy of the test this isn’t listed, it’s just tests for my iron/ and for my current immunity to diseases including HIV/HEP B etc... 
Did he miss something??  Why wouldn’t he get the hcg test?? Did this happen to anyone else? I was 5 weeks when I went to see him so I don’t know why he wouldn’t test for the hcg unless it was an oversight?

Completely normal in some countries... all HCG does is confirm you are pregnant, isn't necessary unless there's bleeding causing concern about ectopic or miscarriage. There's no reason to do it if you've had a strong positive urine test and missed your period. Good luck!

My first blood test at 7 weeks did say HCG on the pathology slip but the doctors never even mentioned the levels to me when I went back. They just mentioned my low iron levels then organised an ultrasound. Weird that they didn't get include HCG to be tested, let the pathologist know when you go in that your pregnant. Could have been a simple error

I actually had this too. Had first consult appt at 7 weeks this past week and they didn't even do anything to confirm...just belieded me that I am pregnant and ran the tests you described. They won't do sonogram/ultrasound until 12 weeks. Super sad/disappointed because this is my first and I just want to know if everything is okay!
