Confused

Ok so I like this guy let’s go with his name being G. G asked me to homecoming on Monday. Him and I hung out at 2 am on the Friday before he asked me. Then the day he did ask me he asked me like three times. He came over at 2am and asked me in person. I said yes obviously. Then this past week we’ve talked everyday. I told him about this guy who was hitting on me 2 nights ago and he said do you want me to take care of it and I said no and he said ok. Him and I have side hugged like 3 times. If I’m having a shitty day G will ask what’s wrong then will try and make my day better. Then last night at like 10:30pm ish he asked for this one thing that says are we friends and stuff like that and I said yes on almost all of it (here’s the picture and everything that I said)

He slid up and sent this emoji ☺️. Idk what to respond to that so I said it’s the truth and he said lol. Then said look I hope I’m not giving you the wrong idea but I only want to be friends. I said I know (because G is a sophomore and I’m a freshman) you don’t date younger people and he said no it’s not that I just don’t want to date anyone rn. So basically after this long story I’m just wanting to know if he actually likes me or if I should stop thinking about this. Thanks so much for your help.
