How to deal with a judgemental best friend?

So I met my best friend in 2003. I was 10 years old and she was 9 years old. We have an incredible friendship that I would not change for the world. However I find it extremely difficult to cope with her at times. Just about every time we go out togethee, she says mean things about other people! Men, women, children. She thinks people are always looking at her, she has horrible road rage (I have spoken to her about it but she gets mad at me), and she thinks anyone with a thick accent is an illegal "alien". Im not one whos easily affected by others, but her being my best friend of 14 years, it has been getting under my skin a bit. She knows Im going to school (college), yet she always tells me how school is a joke. She has a very "Im right" mentality. I want to help her have more of a peace of mind and to expand her education. She gets really defensive lately. And recently she was talking to me about how she wants to get a place with me. I told her that I am financially better off living where I am (paying $150/month) , and I will struggle more if I need to pay $500 in rent PLUS school, etc. She just continued to say "I mean are you really going to live with your bf forever? And school isnt important whats important is getting your own place sam." and I respectfully said "I love you but that is YOUR goal. and I support you but I dont plan on moving out anytime soon." Help??
