Visitors after having a baby

How long did you wait to have family and friends visit your newborn? I am super paranoid about my baby getting sick and need advice. I have some family that want to be at the hospital which I very respectfully declined. Everyone seems to think I am being rude by not wanting visitors immediately to see the baby.
