Maternity Leave

I am in a tight budget and would love to take as long as possible off to spend w/ baby. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen. I am wondering how long everyone took off do to similar reasons. I don't have a strenuous job, I sit at a hotel front desk. Not really required to do any sort of work. Maybe change laundry loads or fold a little. How much time did you take off..? Did you think it was to soon to go back? I'm due July 3rd and estimating she comes that week I am thinking about going back to work August 3rd or the Monday after..
