Nexplanon Journey
Hello ladies!
I thought I would share my experience with Nexplanon. My main reason to share is because the insertion appointment I experienced was way better than what I read online.
I was up late last night I watched videos and read of horror stories and how much it hurt and how people had sore numb arms and blah blah blah.
Well! Needless to say I was terrified of my appointment today. My doctor said it was nothing and it wouldn't hurt but a pinch. She was right about the pinch of a needle when she put the numbing solution just under the skin. She waited a minute then inserted the implant with a gun like device. The implant was loaded into the device and shot into my arm. I DID NOT FEEL A THING! I knew she did it because of the clicking noise it made.
So I wish I never read those horror stories because I was nervous for nothing!
I am going to make updates as to how Nexplanon is working for me, how I feel on it. Weight gain, etc.
Currently I'm 5'4" and normally range 110-115lbs.
Updates listed:
End of Day 1: ✅😊
I feel fine! Nothing felt weird. Arm doesn't hurt. I don't feel nauseous or anything. (Usually I would feel sick right away with the pill - I know that is oral medication so it goes through your system BUT still even the Nuvaring I felt nauseous a few hours after putting it in.)
So far so good!
Day 2: ✅😊
Next morning:
I was able to take the pressure bandage off. Still keeping on the sterile tape until it naturally comes off in the next day or two. No bruising ! Just some dried blood. Feeling fine no changes there.
Took bandage off left it on a bit longer than recommended and decided to take it off so I don't have to looks at the dry blood. Letting it air out so it can form a scab/scar.
3rd Day: ✅😊
Still feeling great. My period ended as it was supposed to today. My mom actually said I was in a better mood.
A week: so today I woke up feeling like "I'm about to start" you know the slight cramps feeling. I haven't started bleeding and I just came off my period recently.
Later on in the day: No spotting and the feeling went away.
Update: still no side effects. 🤗 no spotting. No constant bleeding. No weight gain. No acne. No headaches.
Still feeling amazing 🙌🏼💕😁
Oct 10: I experienced a slight pink color in my discharge. It's normal for me to have this before I start my period. I have the few breakouts to go along with that and minor cramping so I think I will be starting in the next day or so. This would make my period 2 weeks early.
Oct 11: the discharge is a small amount but its old dead blood. Not much. Skin is getting back to normal. I'm wondering if this is my "period" or if this is just spotting as the doctor warned me would probably happen the first 3 months as my body adjusts to the medicine.
Oct 13: so I've been spotting and it's been easing up...but a tiny bit still. It's old blood mostly, sometimes new blood. Nothing a tiny liner can't handle. Skin is back to normal. No cramps.
Oct 17: no cramps. No weight gain. Still light spotting. A tiny liner manages it.
Oct: 22 spotting has stopped! No more liners :)
Super happy with my choice of going on Nexplanon so far! My period would have started today but it has not come yet. We'll see if it's late, light, heavy, long or skipped all together!
Update/ 11.14.17
So I haven't had a period since my Nexplanon. Still spotting. Not bad at all. No acne. No weight gain. Great mood. Sex drive has actually risen. No bloating or side effects. Love love this birth control!!
