Missed period?

I quick started my birth control a week before I was supposed to start my period...but while on birth control...my period never came. Is that normal? I’ve heard you have your “period” during the sugar pill week and I was just going to wait until then to see if I bleed but I figured someone might know if it’s normal to not have a period when you quick start birth control.
