Had my HSG test today.
Wanted to share my experience with anyone that is curious about this test :)
My dr told me to take ibuprofen before my appt this morning and I totally ran out of the house and forgot! My appt was at 7am and my sons bus doesnt run until 6:45 so needless to say, I was in a hurry.
Anyway, I get there at 7, check in and wait for radiology to come get me. 7:45 I'm in the radiology dept naked and waiting.
Dr comes in explains the procedure and begins. He opened me up. Then had a smaller clamp that clamped my cervix in place (I felt like I was getting a prostrate exam Bc he had me cough so he could clamp my cervix😂😂).
He washed my cervix with soap twice then began to Insert the catheter. I felt a little cramping for maybe 3 seconds and it was done. He then started inserting the contrast. It was uncomfortable feeling. No pain at this point. My stomach felt...odd. I guess it was the contrast spilling out into my body.
I could see the contrast going into my uterus and tubes and ovaries. It was pretty neat to see!
Syringe ran out of contrast. Dr had to get more. This time the pain was AWFUL! It only lasted maybe 10 seconds, it was bearable, but painful! After that I was fine.
My tubes, ovaries, and uterus were perfectly clear. No sign of fibroids or anything of that manner. Thankfully.
Aside from that one painful moment it went pretty well. I prepared myself for more pain then what I endured thats for sure. I'm not even cramping. Now I did bleed a pretty good amount. But for me its not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. :)
