Why not make it harder for these people to get assault rifles instead of harder for them to hide them? Gun laws is the answer, plain and clear. No one ever needs weapons of mass destruction. You want a handgun to "protect" your home? Sure, make it harder to legally own one with the proper checks and hoops to jump through. 
Australia changed their gun laws immediately after the mass shooting in 1996. They bought back thousands of weapons and haven't had a mass murder since. 
Canada has not had a mass murder since 1989. 
If you think stricter gun laws are not the answer then you are a cement head. 
This man brought the guns concealed in multiple suitcases over the course of several days. There was no way to know. There was no way to stop it. Unless they are going to X-ray every bag.

I don’t agree, if someone’s out on a mission they’re going to find a way to do it. Leaving the guns in the trunk, choosing a different hotel, not choosing a hotel at all. I don’t feel like hotel security would have completely avoided this terrible tragedy.

Yes, in addition to more restrictions/regulations; obviously we will always have outliers so I think it would be a nice idea to train staff nonetheless in case of an emergency case that bypasses other laws/rules.

For those who are calling for more gun laws and weapons bans, know that the tragic event in Las Vegas actually reinforces what Conservatives have been saying for years. The weapon used was in violation of current gun laws, as it was full automatic and was obtained illegally. Those who choose to operate outside the law will find a way to acquire a weapon to achieve their objective whether murder, robbery, terrorism etc. This action proves what the NRA and Conservatives have said for years. “Outlaw Guns and Only Outlaws Will Have Guns.” Gun laws will not prevent gun crime, but only embolden those who are willing to obtain and use an illegal weapon in a society of defenseless targets.
