Sex on Period

So me and my boyfriend recently got together. I'm on my period this week and he's very sex driven. Yesterday we were making out and things started getting heated. I haven't had many boyfriends let alone had sex with many guys. He asked me how heavy my flow was and I said it wasn't to bad. He then asked if we could go ahead and fuck and he'd use a condom like he normally does. I just kind of shook my head and started kissing him again. He then put his hands down in my pants into my underwear. He was trying to finger me. I pulled his hand out and placed it on my stomach. I'm not really against sex while on my period I'm just a bit uncomfortable with it. I don't know if I'm the only one that gets uncomfortable with this but I just wanted to know how some of you have handled this? Or maybe get some advice on how I should handle this?
