How many ultrasounds did you have?

I'd like to know how many ultrasounds everyone has had!
​Today at my appointment (8wks) the doctor said they won't do an ultrasound til 20wks and that's it! Just one! The reason was because there's no reason to look at the baby when there's nothing to look at and they don't get anything out of it. - (exact words). I literally started to cry, I haven't been really emotional at all even during a few tough situations lately but I just couldn't help it- my fiancé just held onto me and kept saying it was okay..
​Anyway, I also went to another place in town and they only do one ultrasound at 20wks also! 
​I'm very disappointed.

I'm 10 weeks & did 3 already?

​One vaginal at 5 weeks (because I had chicken pox)

​normal ultra sound at 8 weeks (to check heart beat)

​then at 10 weeks (because I had brown discharge & I wanted to see if my baby is ok,turned out my bleeding is serious,doc said I had premature placental abruption)

​Going again at 12 weeks for another ultra sound ☺️

Depends on how high risk you are too. With my son I had 3 ultrasounds. First to date, second was to check sex, and the third was to check for defects in the heart......I'm on meds that can cause neural tube defects....

I had one dating ultrasound at 8w4d.  Next one will be between 11-14 weeks as part of a screening test for Down syndrome, then another at 18-20 weeks to look at all the baby's anatomy.  I've heard sometimes people have another later ultrasound to check growth but don't know if my doctor does that for low risk pregnancies.

​Where are you from?  Ultrasounds seem to be very different depending where you live.  I'm in a major city center in Canada so  ultrasounds are easily available but they aren't in more rural areas.

I had two scheduled ones. One to see how far along I was and one to check my sons growth. Then I had one for low fetal movement (turned out I was in preterm labor) then I had another for no fetal movement (extreamly low water) then one to check the water again.

I know it's disappointing but honestly I think that is pretty normal. I had my first at 8wks 3days. I just had another at 19wks 4 days for my baby's gender and normally that's all you get. I'm getting another one in a few weeks only because my little boy wouldent stay still, so they couldent get accurate measurements on him! Lol Wishing you all the best!!!
