Getting off birth control

I am about to stop taking my Seasonique pills after 8 years. What was it like for any of you who were on birth control for a couple of years or taking the pills where you only get a period 4 times a year and got off? I have read so much online about it taking months for you period to become regular again, excessive weight gain, and acne being worse then ever. Before I got on bc I had a regular heavy period every 28 days lasting about 8 days with horrible cramps. The only time I had acne was when I was about to start my period.
