I wonder if anyone here faced a similar situation. Me and my husband both work, but, without my income, we could not provide everything we need for our child. I am in a 2nd year of a tenure-track position which means that, if I prove myself by the 5th year with certain achievements, involving traveling and stress, I could be elected to into a tenure-a permanent thing. Before that time, I am on a year-to-year basis. I am 36 and really would like a sibling for my 2yr old. Should I wait 5 years and make sure our jobs are safe? *Note that maternity leave will not stop the clock of the tenure track. 1. The jobs are golden and will be lost for both of us, if I am not tenured. 2. In case of a failed tenure, it is unlikely that I will find another job with matching qualifications.
