My advice for FTM's

Am

Hey girls, just wanted to share some things I learned after giving birth.

1. The nurses in the hospital are hella annoying and don't let you get rest/sleep cause they check on you/baby every hour night and day (understand this is their job). So be ready for barely any uninterrupted rest/sleep, I was really surprised by this.

2. TAKE AS MANY VISITORS IN THE HOSPITAL AS YOU CAN! Like for real, I was discharged from the hospital two days ago and I'm trying to get into a routine, but it's super hard when people are dropping in ALL THE TIME. People love babies and think it's more convenient to visit at home, which in some cases maybe it is - but not for me.

3. Compression leggings, buy a pair and move into them lol they really help "hold you together" after it's all said and done.

4. Think you have enough blankets going to the hospital? Pack one more anyways.

5. The hospital will supply you with WAY more than you thought they would!

6. Don't be scared of a c-section, though unplanned - this could save you or your babys life, it's truly mind over matter.

7. Don't be shitty to yours or your babys nurses! They work long ass shifts and don't get recognized for the incredible work they do, they truly are unsung heros! (Though, refer to #1)

8. There will be blood! Lots of it! Like niagra falls, even with a c-section you will bleed vaginally with a super heavy flow.

9. Hospital food fucking sucks so bad. But you HAVE to eat or you can't take medication, so pack a snack bag - especially for your partner. The hospital does not feed your partner, only you and baby. Download the Chick-Fil-A, Subway or Taco Bell app and preorder/prepay for food and ask your visitors to swing by and grab your order for you! This was a huge lifesaver 😊

10. KNOW the signs of spinal fluid leakage and don't leave the hospital if you notice any of the signs! You don't want to be home with a newborn and have migraines from hell ☹️

11. Bring a 12 pack of your favorite soda/drinks, even if you leave them in the car for your partner to bring in later - you'll want something other than what the hospital is offering. If you don't drink them, then you've got a 12 pack for when you get home and want the caffeine!

12. After being discharged your life is still kind of crazy, newborn doctors visit within 2 days of discharge, applying for birth certificate, filling prescriptions, changing/notifying insurance, going to WIC office etc. On top of dealing with a newborns hectic schedule, and visitors.

13. People come out of the woodwork! You know that Aunt that lives in New York that you met when you were 6 and haven't seen since? Expect her to come visit you! Babies make everyone go kind of crazy lol

Of course there's differences for everyone and hospitals/birth centers are all different but this is a list based on my personal recent experience as a FTM delivery via C-section! Good luck to all of you and much love ❤️
