pregnant and bipolar?

I've been thinking a lot lately about having kids. But I have bipolar II and everything I've read makes it sound like it's a bad idea, you will probably relapse, have to switch medications rapidly, worse episodes etc. Have any of you with diagnosed bipolar had kids? How did it go?

I'm not bipolar but I have anxiety. I started talking to my general practitioner (they were the ones treating me for my anxiety) about wanting to get pregnant and what steps to take before conceiving, as I am on medication for it. Maybe schedule some time with the doctor that is treating your bipolar disorder and see their thoughts and what options they have. Also if they switch your medications I would obviously wait to see how you react and if the dosage is right.
