nexplanon

Caitlin

So I've had nexplanon since march of 2017. I loved it at first, but then it really played with my emotions. Not to mention the endless period. My first endless period happened in april and it ended sometime in may. IT maybe lasted 20 plus days. i cant remember having a period in june. If I did it was just spotting. In July I had I suppose a normal ish period. It was about 3 days and then some spotting not long after. Then comes August and the period from hell. Now i understand that prolonged bleeding and irregular periods are a side effect for the implant, but how can this be healthy for women. I'm 22 years old and sexually active. I'd say it's pretty effective for pregnancy prevention, because who really wants to have sex when you cant stop bleeding. Now I bled from August 7 untill September 15th. I had followed mt doctors first instructions to take ibuprofen for 10 days to stop the bleeding. It worked maybe for 3 days and then it left me bleeding and constipated. I felt helpless. I had read the horror stories of women bleeding 3+ monthes and I couldn't let that be me. My boyfriend eventually forced me to go to urgent care to get help. Note I was getting super depressed and emotional over the constant bleeding. Not to mention the pain and heaviness that came in waves. Yet the only conclusions urgent care could give me was to keep taking ibuprofen. I broke down and cried, and I guess the doctor felt for me and prescribed me birth control pills. Which is another thing I have read about. Now I was on the pill for the rest of september. I finished the pack and started my period. I can call in and get it refilled one more time if my period doesn't regulate it's self again... Now I really don't want to be on two forms of contraception. That can not be healthy for my feminine health. I want to give my nexplanon a chance, but I cannot live with these side effects. I will lose my mind. Has any one tried taking estrogen promoting vitamins for period regulation? Do you think that could help since the pills have the estrogen that regulates periods? Should i just get it out and go back on the pill?
