Why do I still have my period??😩

So I began my period last Wednesday and began taking the pill for the first time in months that upcoming Sunday. My period usually only lasts about 5 days yet it’s going on the 8th day and my flow is still normal😩 I don’t know why my cycle is still continuing, I’m just so ready for it to be over! Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know what the heck is going on?? Plssss leave feedback
