Those three words

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 3 years. I adore him however he refuses to say ‘I love you’ or discuss any sort of committed future involving marriage or kids.

We have talked a few times and it always ends in an argument and a few days of the silent treatment. His explanation is that his parents never said I love you so he shouldn’t either. I feel that’s a cop out. Am I nuts? Maybe I should let it go..... idk. At the end of every argument or fight I always feel an immense amount of guilt. But I’m also beginning to resent him a little.... any advise? Anyone have this problem?
