Birth story
I love that I can finally share my birth story! This past Tuesday when I made it into week 39, I had what I thought were Braxton Hicks starting when I went to bed. Inconsistent and varying in duration so I wasn't worried. They continued the same on Wednesday, really inconsistent but I felt that they were getting a little more intense. I called the on call OB around 9 that night to get her opinion. She told me that un less they were less than 10 mins apart to stay home and relax. By midnight the contractions were so intense I couldn't even lay down and they were definitely less than 10 mins apart. I woke up my hubby and told him it was go time! We got to the hospital by 1am. I got checked and was already 5cm. Then by 2am I was already 8cm! My plan to have an epidural was long gone by then so of course I was freaking out. I don't do well with pain but I did my best to hold it together. The contractions after that point were awful at maybe a minute apart and so incredibly strong, but by 6am I wasn't any further dilated. FINALLY around 8am it was time to push. I pushed for almost 25 mins and screamed the entire time because the pain was UNREAL, but at 8:25 our beautiful Savannah Marion came into the world. I don't think I would ever choose to have a drug free labor, and dont plan to for future babies, but I definitely learned my lesson about waiting til the last minute to go to the hospital!
