Is this too petty?

My stepmom has been hovering over me this entire pregnancy, buying all types of things (things I don’t even want, like a bassinet, I want to use a dockatot to help with safe cosleeping). Now she says *she* wants to do a 3D Ultrasound. Those are elective, and cost a lot of money... money that I don’t have. If *she* wants to do it, shouldn’t she pay for it all? Cause I just don’t have the money for an elective procedure right now. Like... is it wrong for me to tell her she should pay for it since she’s the one that wants it? Lol...

It's not petty, just say you can't afford to do an elective procedure. If she really wants it done, she'll offer to pay for it. That's what happened with me and my in laws.

If you don’t want one at all I’d say exactly that.

I would try to explain that you didn’t plan on doing it as it’s elective and cost extra money. Explain insurance doesn’t cover it. See what she says then. She may volunteer to pay for it.

just tell her you can't afford it. if sge chooses to offer to pay AND you want it- cool.  if not don't do it.  we never did it with my first son and don't think so with baby #2.  my son came out perfect regardless

Yes she should pay for it since she brought it up. I got 3D done twice. The first time I invited my parents because I know they would really appreciate it and second it was just me and my husband. But just tell her "Yea we can do that if you want to pay for it :)."

my mom did the same thing after my last ultrasound, i just told her we cant afford it but if she wants to see the babe in 3D then she can pay for it
