I was once told guys only really stick around in their child’s life(of you and him aren’t together)  If it’s a girl. If it’s a boy and you guys are broken up he is more likely to go astray..
What do you guys think? Is there some truth to that?

That's not true, I have a baby boy, and my husband and I are getting a divorce and he's very active in his life :) It just depends on the man.

Just like someone else said, it has everything to do with the father, not the child. But speaking from experience, my fiancé has fought hard and put everything on the line to stay in his sons life.
