Exfoliation ish

Ok so: back in July I got a sample package of Dermalogica Oily Skin to try and help make my skin less oily (I got Mirena at the end of May and made my skin CRAZY oily). I thought for some reason to use the skin prep scrub after the dermal day cleanser everyday, so I used it twice a day. My skin cleared up within a week to two weeks and when I finally ran out I preferred the full size products. On the full size skin prep scrub, I read and realized I was supposed to only use it like every other day. So, I started using every other day and my acne has came back and has been gross. In my defense I know you shouldn’t exfoliate EVERYDAY but for some reason it just never occurred to me to use the skin prep scrub e/o day, my mistake. Any advice on what the heck could be going on or what to try? TIA! :)
