No ultrasound?

Question

Is it normal to not get an ultrasound done for the second and third appointments? I had an appointment yesterday at almost 13 weeks and my doctor told me my next ultrasound would be at 20 weeks to find out the gender. Is this normal? I was really excited to see my little peanut :(

That's normal.  most people only get 2 ultrasounds from their doctor

Totally normal. My OB office does 3. One at about 8 weeks, the anatomy scan between 19-20, and a third around 30 to see size and position of the baby. I had a second one done at 12.5 weeks at my appointment but that was because the doctor couldn’t find the heartbeat well with the Doppler. My OB for my first pregnancy only did 2, the one around 8 weeks and the anatomy scan.

My insurance only approved 3 ultrasounds but I am getting an extra one because my child is at risk for a heart murmur since my oldest was born with one.

We’ve gotten 4 in the past but we have high risk pregnancies. 
My husband and son were born with heart defects and both needed surgery after birth. 
Everyone else I know only gets 12 week and 20 week ultrasounds.

I'm in the same boat. My first ultrasound isn't until 18 weeks. We've done the genetic testing and they use the Doppler to hear the heart rate. At first I hated it because I just want to see my baby! Three more weeks til we can see!

Yea I hear it’s normal but not what I want either! I had one for all my appointments so far but she (my doctor) told me that I wouldn’t have one the next appointment- that it would be the following so I’m a little sad about that! I wish they would do one at every appointment!

Yes normal. You get your first ultrasound, usually first visit or a special visit. and then you get another about 10 weeks later to check organs and gender. Insurance doesn't pay for more.
