I hope this helps anyone who needs it.
I notice a lot of posts about loosing weight and being go about it in very unhealthy ways. This is what I learned through classes. (If you recognize what I say from another post I typed this there first as a comment to someone then copy and pasted it into a new post)
I'm taking a nutrition class in college right now and iv noticed some things people are saying is wrong. You only need to eat high protein if you are trying to gain muscle. You NEED to eat sugar no matter what. Sugar is what provides energy to your entire body. You just don't want to eat too much sugar. When eating things like popsicles, the high fructose corn syrup gives you a quick energy boost with a crash. You want different sugars that aren't concentrated. Like eating a good portion of pasta for lunch (carbohydrates are sugars.) the thing is most people eat way too much protein and way too much sugar already, so if you want to gain muscle just cut out a few things like extra bread, or lower the proportions of your carbs and sugars (for example, if you eat 2 cups of pasta usually, cut it down to 1 cup and replace the other cup with more veggies.) any excess sugars and proteins that you ingest and don't use will be converted into fat (so eating all that extra protein won't be help if you're not trying to build muscle).
This information is now from my mom when she was losing weight. My mom went to a nutritionist and took several nutrition classes a few years ago (along with being a physical therapist assistant). Her nutritionist told her to eat her favorite candy every day. By doing this it'll prevent you from getting a craving and then bingeing on a ton of candy (or whatever you're food is.) so my mom bought a bag of those mini bite sized 3 musketeers and with every meal she would have one. After a few weeks she would forget about the candy and not want it anymore. The nutritionist also told her that it is healthiest to eat small proportions throughout the day (which my class is confirming). Your cells are constantly breaking chemical bonds and building new ones, which is work. It needs food to provide the chemicals and energy you need. Eating a bunch of small meals throughout the day instead of 3 big/medium meals is a lot better for you (also helps with bloating because you don't get that food baby belly after eating). My mom lost about 40 pounds while doing this.
Also, your body will Plateau. It's a natural thing. When you start to plateau you need to change your exercise routine. For example; If your routine is going for a run, doing squats, and then doing push ups, change the exercises. Instead of running, walk backwards on the treadmill (I know it sounds weird. I did it for physical therapy. It works out different muscles than walking forwards does. I suggest having someone with you though incase of a misstep.) instead of squats do some jump rope. Instead of push ups do some light weight lifting. Your body gets used to routines and gets settled. You gotta change things up.
