So the bastard finally sign the EO to sabotage Obama care .

Kerrion • Wibbly -Wobbly -Timey -Wimey

So as of 10/13/2017 Obama care no longer exist . From now on nobody can blame President obama with anything that goes wrong with their premiums going up or whatever else that petty POS has done . Want to hear what his supporters have to say this time , want to hear their explanations and defense stories they come up with 😒🙄😪😤. So many people will die !!!

They don't care to explain. Trust me anyone who voted for the Dumster knew that he was a dumpster before they voted for him. They just didn't care because he told them everything they wanted to hear

So, there's actually no such thing as "Obamacare". It's a slang term for he overarching program according to some and some people say it as the exchange. This terminology drives me batty

They think Obama care and ACA are two different things so in their minds they are ok 😪. Funny thing though this will affect his base the most .

Trump argues the executive order he signed Thursday will give millions of Americans more access to affordable health insurance, essentially by allowing them to buy premiums through large-group programs. So as a result of subsidies cut, carriers are likely to recoup the lost money by increasing premiums for people buying their own health insurance policies. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners estimates that Trump's move would produce a 12 percent to 15 percent upsurge in premiums. I hate executive orders. He fucked middle America with this one. He didn't listen to the house or the senate on what their constituents want.

That's what I say. Although I usually phrase it as " why does he have such a boner for obama"

It's so ridiculous. He's using real people as pawns in his strong-arm "negotiating" tactics. He does not care about people, just about getting his way. When his crazy tactics start affecting his supporters maybe then they will FINALLY admit that we have a serious problem here.

Oh agreed- there have been issues ongoing.

To be clear, I'm not supportive of this EO and it's disgusting. But i do just like to spread awareness that this isn't new or the only failure that exchange has suffered .

It will continue the trend of not having options but won't make it brand new. Most major insurers have already pulled out. This is definately a nail in the coffin but it is not a new event.

Obamacare wasn't perfect by any means. It helped me be able to afford a couple of doctors visits when I really needed them (along with helping me afford to get my eyes checked and get glasses for the first time), but it screwed over my SO.Last year I was only making slightly above minimum wage. So Obamacare helped me. But my SO makes $15 an hour - which means he's in the middle ground where he got fucked no matter what. He made too much to get helped by Obamacare, but didn't make nearly enough to reasonably afford healthcare through his workplace or anywhere else. And now that I'm making more, I'm in the same boat as my SO this year. Obamacare helped some but really screwed over others. However if trump really just did this, it fucks over everyone who isn't upper class. Especially because I'm not reading anything about Obamacare getting replaced with anything. So fuck most of America, I guess.

In some parts of the country and for some demographics that's true, but I'm looking at nearly 500% increase over 8 years!

Yeah it's unfortunate they couldn't admit that Obamacare had good parts to it and then changed what was wrong. Instead they had to be stubborn asshats.

Thank God that shit is finally gone. Fun fact: the deductible I would have had was $5,000. I don’t have that much medical cost for it to have ever benefited me. It screwed over many more than it ever helped. I know several doctors who decided to retire early because they didn’t want to deal with the hassle of Obamacare. My dad had the best insurance before all of this shit. He literally only paid 20% of every procedure. 80% of it was covered. It was the one reason I was able to afford to have lap band done. Literally the best thing would be to have individual/family insurance with no existing pre-conditions. I mean how hard is that to figure out?

Isn’t that what Obamacare is all about? Paying for the people who can’t pay for themselves? To help those who can’t get coverage? You see I tried getting it but I wasn’t approved and didn’t feel like the red tape to get approved would be worth it. I have psoriatic arthritis and because of that I can’t work. So therefore I don’t have credit. I don’t know why you need credit for fucking insurance anyway. So what am I supposed to do? I mean, I’ve applied for jobs and still get turned down.

if i got in a car accident or a cancer diagnosis under shitty obamacare I still couldnt afford it, would be paying out of pocket AND would have less to do so because I was FORCED to pay for the shitty coverage all year in the first place.

A good explanation on how those who are insured are basically paying the tab for people who go uninsured.

Yeah I don't get it . If it didn't help me but help millions of other people it even my neighbor to me that is not failure but it's just easier to blame the program . All the republicans had to do was work with everyone else and fix it but they just wanted it home because of who it was connected to .

It’s frustrating. I know folks who have used medi-cal (California Medicaid) for themselves and their children, WIC, or other forms of government welfare who vote red and constantly talk negatively about people who “use the system”... I guess even when hard times fall on them directly, it’s still hard to feel compassion for others 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t understand the disconnect and likely never will.

I'm just hoping the collapse , or should I say destruction, of the ACA will drive us one step closer to single payer healthcare.

Kr

Kristine • Oct 16, 2017
it was no baby step. the whole thing was designed to skyrocket costs and strangle competition thereby driving demand for single payer.

Al

Alyssa • Oct 16, 2017
Do you think that the general public will view it as something different though? That's the catch. The general public isn't as educated. So if someone WERE to say "hey trust the government with your care" the only thing they can compare it to is the exchange. That's the point I'm trying to make. Right or wrong- there's some pretty hefty damage there

Ре

and I'm just saying the ACA shouldnt be held up as an example for how single payer healthcare won't work

I don't agree with any executive orders and I think it's gross that this got shoved down our throats. Here's the deal that I wish was being fully reported on. There's been huge issues such as insurers losing so much money that they pulled out of the exchange. I work for the industry and my employer pulled out in all states except those mandated if they want to offer commercial plans. We also don't pay brokers to sell the policy, we don't advertise, etc. There needs to be something done. A semi intelligent man would do one of two things:1. Get a bill passed and supported that replaces the ACA while leveraging the pieces that we all know are solid and good. Have a 2-3 year runout period on exchanges before it is replaced with something sustainable long term that the insurers can actually support without a loss. Personally I like expansion of CHP and Medicaid while perhaps giving incentives to other individual (non state) plans. These are traditionally the higher premium plans and even a single woman making 45k may really struggle to pay them with her other expenses 2. If you truly want to do something that is meant to give a boost to the insurance market, don't worry about fucking the subsidized members. Those are the members we (insurers) are actually getting money from. Change the eligibility loopholes or give us the money we were fucking promised through the passing of the 3Rs. We were promised loss protection and when it came time for it, we were given a very small percentage of it.This is very thinly veiled maneuver to try and fuck the ACA since our senate and congress are acting like children and won't play nicely while the rest of America has to suffer.Big douche move and it's not even disguised as anything besides a power play.

I mean, I hate the exchanges. We had major issues going in. I was offered to lead a department for our exchange branch when it was first signed and I took it. I warned ALL of my employees that within a few years we will need to move departments due to it it being sustainable. BUT people think that the exchange is all the ACA is. So not true, there are amazing pieces like the end of age/sex rating (fucks over women of childbearing years), it allows for essential health benefits that are very basic and promote preventive care, and puts some regulations on rates that for too many years allowed insurers to just force out people. Sure! We will cover smokers! Your premium is 200% more. With the ACA we have a limit for the % we can increase due to risky behavior such as smoking. These are amazing things! But yeah, the exchange as it stands now sucks

The Aca was a giant failure already. I am a working middle class woman. I have a choice to start a family, which my husband and I are doing responsibly- we have been married for five years, both work full time etc. I lost my original plan, despite what obama and the democrats promised, and was forced into a high deductible plan. This year, I met the deductible on my existing healthcare plan (a couple thousand since getting pregnant I’ve needed a lot more doctor visits and my healthcare costs were higher than normal). This is in addition to the monthly premium that is deducted from my paycheck (an additional $1500 a year approximately, and this is low since my employer generously covers the bulk of my premiums). Even though I pay the premium and deductible, I am still responsible for some of the fees for my delivery as well, 20% worth in fact. Fast forward to me being a few months into my pregnancy and my company got sold to a giant mega Corp (it was too hard with all of Obama’s/Democrats taxes and regulations on small business for them to compete anymore). The mega Corp laid off my whole team shorty after acquiring us, so as a pregnant woman I had to get a new job. Thankfully i had kept in good standing with my prior employer and they were able to take me back. As another small business, they had lost all of their plans too and could now only offer high deductible plans. So now, I must pay ANOTHER deductible plus my monthly premiums. ($2750 plus approx $1200 a year in premiums). This plan has a max out of pocket of $4000 which I most certainly will hit since the cost to deliver is so high. My employer found out our premiums are going up about 20% next year, this was announced long before trump signed any executive order and has been a trend since obamacare was implemented. My deductible on my existing healthcare plan renews in December. Since I’m due Jan 5, I will probably have to pay a whole other deductible again. In a nutshell it’s going to cost me at least $10,000 out of pocket to have my baby. I am solidly middle class, have worked since I turned 16 and have waited to a responsible point in my life to plan for the best for my child. Yet, democrats have punished me every step of the way with their policies. Nothing is “free”, someone is paying for it, always. While i don’t like executive orders when obama abused them or now under trump, if it forces congress to finally do something to get rid of obama care, then I am all for it. If I went onto my husbands insurance, our premiums would skyrocket to around $450 a month, since I’d be penalized since i have a healthcare option from my employer. So the baby will be on his plan and I on my own with my employer, since the aca sucks we can’t take advantage of a family rate because of the premium penalties. This is my reality thanks to democrats.

Candy • Oct 16, 2017
Isn’t it sad that I actually contemplated taking a few years off to have my baby? Not because I wanted to, but because the costs of taxes, healthcare etc are so prohibitive. It’s sad when we have made a country that makes not working almost more lucrative than working. I decided long term that a break like that would be too detrimental to my career, but from a financial perspective it wouldn’t have made much difference in the short term since I could have then out myself and the baby on my husband’s plan without the horrific premium penalties they charge. Aca is a huge failure, through and through. It’s great people with preexisting conditions got coverage, but it’s unsustainable to stuff 10million more people onto Medicaid at the expense of the middle class.

Al

Alyssa • Oct 16, 2017
Unfortunately you are 100% correct. And not everyone has the ability to negotiate those differences as part of their compensation ornsign on bonus. When my husband switched jobs I was like, we need to get the calculator because every little bit helps. People end up getting screwed.

Ca

Candy • Oct 16, 2017
That’s how I understood it. Which means someone like me who changes jobs gets even more screwed than the typical American already shafted by these high deductible plans.
