jeep liberty 04 carseat

oh my god, new carseat troubles for sure. I have been at it for well over 2 hours. I've read the manual, less then helpful. I have been all over good and Jeep, carseat forums. I have been on YouTube. can someone please help me out. My LO is 8 months, 20 lbs, and just got a brand new convertible carseat. I obviously want this rear facing. my Jeep is supposed to have the latch system, but I can't seem to find the anchors under the seat anywhere. do they ever have any? it doesn't seem secure AT ALL, there for I am completely immobile because no way will I take my baby out anywhere in an unsafe seat. any Liberty owners out here? Also, should I just do it the seatbelt way? Please please any info people.
