Weight loss surgery??

Hey all! I'm considering weights loss surgery for various reasons (one being TTC.) Have any of you looked into these options? 
My personal issue with carrying extra weight is my hormones get really wonky when I seem to cross a certain weight threshold. I love my body as is, but will have an issue losing and keeping off weight due to my complete thyroidectomy.

I will tell you, I went through the whole process got up to the surgery date and realized for myself if I can’t keep good habits in general then what makes me think surgery will do anything. So I didn’t go through with it, I started going to the gym, mainly cause of the pool and my mobility sucked! Then I slowly became a vegan, now a year later I’m down from 360lbs to 260lbs. Was it hard as hell, yes, does it still suck working out, yes, but it’s what worked for me.

I had vertical sleeve in July 2016.  I went from 233 to my current 162-165 in about eight months.  My goal was 140 but I’ve never been lower than 160 in my adult life so I’m content with this.  Im a size eight/m on bottom and a small on top. I’d love to get into the 150s but if it doesn’t happen oh well. 
I’ve lost a significant amount of weight twice before doing medifast and prescription diet pills through a doctor.  Both times I started regaining the weight almost immediately, but I’ve been able to maintain my current weight since February, even through vacations and occasionally eating off plan.  My sleeve is still tight and that’s because I stop eating when I start to get full.  listen to your body when you start to get full and you’ll maintain restriction.  
I don’t understand why people treat obesity like some type of special medical issue that you should solve naturally.  If you had diabetes or cancer no one would tell you to just exercise it away.  Obesity is a seriously medical problem; modern medicine has a long term treatment for it (surgery) that is proven to be more successful than exercise and diet alone.  Of course there are long term effects (I take a vitamin daily) but seriously the pros outweigh the cons.  I’m amazed at how little I think about food.  I’m not obsessed with it like I was before.  Things I loved (candy and sweets) I rarely if ever eat.  It has been life changing.

I had the gastric sleeve April 2017- I’m about 7 months post op. My husband and I previously tried to conceive for over a year and a half, even tried WITH clomid and nothing! I was about 305 lbs at my highest weight. Finally I decided to just do it, that my weight was out of control and what I was doing was not enough and I needed help. It was the best decision I’ve made! I would do it all over again! I am now 229 and still losing. I’m more active, more dedicated, more cautious of what I eat. We can’t try again until I’m 12-18 months post op OR until my weight stabilizes but that’s okay, it gives me more time to hit my goal weight and focus on becoming as healthy as possibly before we start trying again. I’m down over 74 lbs in 7 months! It’s changed my life.

I personally would never consider weight loss surgery. First, I would need to be sure that there are no underlying health issues that may be restricting my weight loss. Second, I'd need to keep a log of what I've been eating. Weight loss surgery will only be temporary in me if I haven't gotten my eating habits in check. I know I have a lot of work to do to get into the right mindset to lose weight. Losing weight has always been a struggle. I lost all my weight two times just to gain it back plus some. My current weight is about 265 and I'm 5'5". I carry weight in my middle and look like a bloated apple....If you're able to stick with a healthy diet for life then weight loss surgery is for you.

I just had vblock weight loss surgery 4months ago. I am down 36lbs and it has gotten my non existent periods to become regular. I also have pcos and have been trying to get pregnant for 6yrs. I believe my weight impacts my body greatly. the weightloss surgery was a last ditch effort to help me get healthy and conceive.

I had the gastric sleeve in February of 2016 at 36 years old. I'm 5'7" and weighed 356 pounds at my highest. I'm down to 205 at 20 months out. I could never lose weight successfully on my own. I was hungry all the time. I made relatively healthy food choices, but just ate way too much. I make pretty similar food choices now, with the exception that I've traded air-popped popcorn and pretzels for fried chips and actually eat breakfast, but eat much less. And I knew I wasn't healthy enough to have a safe pregnancy. I got married 4 years before my surgery and we never tried because of my weight. I actually just had a follow up with my surgeon not too long ago and he gave me the green light to go ahead and try. You're supposed to wait 2 years after any bariatric surgery before becoming pregnant. Since I also have PCOS and am almost 38, we figure it will take at least 6 months at best for me to get that BFP, so I went off BCP at the end of August. I'm still considered obese (barely, I need to lose 8 pounds to be just overweight) but my health issues are pretty much gone. 
I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat! That's even with knowing I'd have to wait two years to try for a baby!
