Confused!

Period was due on the Wednesday, Monday started spotting, continued into Tuesday and Wednesday and little bit today. This is nothing like my normal period so I'm not sure what's going on! took a test on the weekend which was negative. Anyone have spotting like this for a few days and were pregnant? I already have one bub and didn't have anything like this with that pregnancy. What are your thoughts ladies? I'm only scared to test again cause it really upsets me when negative, despite how much I try to prepare for it 🙁
