Do you believe first impressions are everything?

Not sure where I should post so I figured here would be good! It's about all kinds of adult relationships, potential lovers, potential friends & potential soon to be family members.

Not everything, but extremely important, because if you mess up the first impression, you rarely get a chance at a second.

My boyfriend (now husband) made quite possibly the worst first impression on my family that he could have, overcompensating from nervousness and getting extremely drunk (my brothers did that on purpose)
It took quite a while for him to win any kind of respect from them but, he did and now gets along great with everybody! And I have a big, clannish family that I'm the baby of. So even if they did like him it would have been tough for him to date me. Lol
