My fast labor and delivery of my baby girl! 🤗
So happy to be finally telling my birth story, after reading so many wonderful, unique ones!
(Now before things get a bit confusing let me add some quick notes: I already have a 14 month old boy, and my SO works out of town- it’ll make sense in a bit.)
It all started October 20th, 2017. I was headed to my 37 week OB check up appointment at 11:20am. I had to get up a bit earlier because I noticed my son needed more diapers. So I got up got ready and got him ready and headed to our neighborhood Walmart. I left him with my sister to watch him because he gets so bored being at the clinic I go to (he gets fussy and wants to run around.) I head to my appointment and I hate waiting there because I always at least spend like 2 hours there just waiting to be called in or to be finally seen by my OB. Anyways, my OB finally checks me and all that. Now the week before I was already dilated to almost 3 cm, and she was pretty head down and putting so much pressure in my pelvic area. My OB had been wanting me to take things easy (as much as I could with a toddler), she didn’t want the baby to come before 37 weeks. So I was careful and then came today. She checked me and I was 4cm, 80% effaced. She said she would strip my membranes but didn’t know if my SO was in town. I told her please go ahead and see if that gets things going because luckily he was already on his way home. Took advantage of him being here so he wouldn’t miss a thing. Left my appointment at 1pm. Started contractions right away. They were okay at first then around 3:30 almost 4 they started getting more tense. At 4:30 I was already stopping and squatting to breath in between them. I was waiting for any family member to come home to help me with my son. I was going to wait as long as I could till my SO got home. (he was 9 hour away and would be getting home around 5 maybe 6pm) By the time everyone started arriving a little bit before 5 I couldn’t handle it at home anymore. Luckily my SO wasn’t too far away. We both got to the hospital at the same time even though there was traffic of course.. Anyways we got checked in, got in triage and then my contractions got worse. I was 6 cm by then. I couldn’t wait to get an epidural luckily I didn’t have to wait too long cause maybe after like 30 mins of being in the triage room, we got in to the labor and delivery room and got all situated in there. They put my IVs in then maybe like 20 mins later I got my epidural and thank goodness I did at that time because geez the contractions were so intense i was just glad that my water didn’t break or they didn’t decide to break it either before I got my epidural because i literally wouldn’t felt like i was going to scream in so much pain. It took a bit to get the epidural in because I kept positioning myself wrong, getting contractions in between and being super ticklish in my back it took maybe a good 10 mins I think. But everything started working good because I was talking instead of moaning or breathing hard like I was for the past 2 hours. I was doing good for the next 2 hours I think. Had our family visit us and chat. I did however feel tightening down there but my legs were super numb and I was shivering cold up my chest area. Like about almost 30 mins later I felt lots of pressure and felt my contractions a bit. I figured I just needed more of the good stuff lol but my nurse checked me after I had pressed the epidural button like 5 mins ago, and she said yep, she right there, you’re fully dilated and I’m like duh no wonder! So they got everything ready for me to push. My mom, my SO, “my mom in law” and my sister were in the room plus I think my sister in law too at the last minute as I was pushing. Turns out I only pushed 4 times basically for just 5 mins and she was out! My little girl was here. I felt so much better having her in my arms. Had 2 stitches which I expected. We did skin to skin bonding for about an hour and she breastfed and latched amazing right away. Baby girl can eat! Then she got cleaned up, weighed and all that. She weighed in at 6lbs 4 oz! 18 1/2 inches long at 9:10 pm on October 20th 2017 like I mentioned before at 37 weeks and 2 days. She is a bit smaller than brother was but she felt so much bigger! Brother was so happy and entertained with seeing her. She’s been doing good so far. So happy to finally have my pair; my boy and my girl. Definitely getting an the copper IUD that lasts for i think 5-10 years? Cause these two were 14 months apart. I love them but definitely no more babies anymore or for at least a longgggg time. Thanks for reading my long story. Here’s a pic of my baby girl!
