Baby shower/welcome home party after the birth?

I'm pregnant with my third child and I thought to do something different  with this one... So I thought of a welcome baby party/baby shower after I have the baby. What yall think?

That's what I'm planning. I don't want any visitors at the hospital, so we're going to have a welcome home party a week or so after baby is home:) it's a great idea !!

We did that for a few of my friends when they had their second and third children. Gifts weren't mandatory, but most people brought a little something. It was a nice opportunity for the new mom to socialize and for everyone to visit with the baby and the new mom. The party was held at someone else's house so the new mom just had to show up with the baby and didn't have to host a bunch of visitors in her house.

My family did a baby meet and greet for my sister in law.

She got a baby shower from her side, and we didn't want to get her too much stuff, since they only have an apartment.

She loved it. People brought gifts, but we tried to keep it to cash gifts or gift cards. We told people that money for formula is better than onesies and blankets since she has more than enough.
