My rainbow baby is here 🌈 8/2/17
I a bit late on sharing my story. I finally had some time to sit and type it.
When I was about 20 weeks, my doctor told me that they were planning to induce me at week 39 because of my last baby was big and he broke his collar bone on the way out. They thought that the baby would be as big and didn't want that complication with this one.
Fast forward to 38 weeks 2 days (it was a Thursday) at my weekly appt. My internal check says I'm still high and closed but my blood pressure is high. My ob wants me to head to the hospital to monitor my blood pressure. If it doesn't go down, I was going to have to have the baby that day. Now I'm scared out of my mind and crying because I'm scared of a c-section. I call me SO what's going on and he leaves to work early to meet me at the hospital. I get there and get hooked up to a pressure cuff for the next two hours. Thank goodness it's down and stays down.
I get sent home but my ob wants to see me the following Monday. I go in on Monday and thank goodness my bp still down and she does another internal. I'm now low and 2.5 cm dilated. She's schedules my induction for Wednesday.
We go in Wednesday morning at 7:30 to the L & D. I get all hooked up with IVs and they started my antibiotic drop (since I had a positive result on the first test for b strep, they decided to give me the antibiotics as a precaution). Then they stared the pitocin. I'm not sure what number it was at for the pitocin drop but around 2pm I started to feel the contractions. By 3:30 pm they were intense and to the point I couldn't talk. I was only at 3 cm. I was able to muscle up a speaking voice (with the help of my SO lol) to ask for an epidural. I got it about 30 mins later and was so relaxed. They checked me about 20 mins later and I just to 5 cm. After that I fell asleep for about an hour.
At about 5:20 they drained my bladder and immediately went from about 5.5 to almost an 8. My ob starts getting ready and comes back in 10 mins and checks me again. 10 cm, time to push.
After pushing for 20 mins and (thank goodness) no tearing, our rainbow baby was here!
