what is going onn with this dude

okay so I just need advice or something, this guy who's trying to be with me and be my babydaddy etc complains that I don't text him back, but that's cause I'm always waiting for HIM to text back. and whenever I say something he doesn't like he just stops replying for days or weeks and always comes back saying like "hey babygirl" or some shit like he didn't just ghost me. and sometimes when im just saying normal stuff he doesn't reply and then says he just wants me to "act like I care about him" and text twice or something like that like a test, I'm not even sure but it pisses me offf. every time he does that my brain automatically assumes he doesn't want to talk, and I don't wanna annoy him so I don't say anything just out of habit. this has been happening for months now, and it's super confusing. he sakeys he cares about me and that I'm important to him etc, I'm just so confused is this normal?? sorry if this doesn't make sense i suck at explaining things😭
