Pregnancy test and hormones

I have a question and maybe someone can help me understand ! My period is due this coming wednesday I called my ob told them I had positive tests ! They want me to wait to see if I miss my period then call and follow up with a appt ! Now where they have me scared is they said my hormones can be really high and give me a positive test and i wouldn’t really be pregnant like a false reading ?? Has anyone heard this I’m just trying to find peace of mind and kinda scared this is another false positive and lemme tell ya I’ve taken a lot of diff brands well blue dye and I’ve heard they give false positives a lot so I switched and red the hcg 88€ cent tests are best ! With these as many times I’ve tested never got a second line like this so I’m curious if anyone has ever heard of what they told me !!
