Dilation Refusal?

Now that I’m hearing dilation check is painful, do you have to get it checked every week?

Should you refuse future checks (if you want to)?

Does anyone recommend having them check at 36week appt to have an idea, but asking to skip it until labor?

*background info: first pregnancy, no complications so far, baby was head down at 34 week appt

Curious what everyone has experienced.

Update: the docs at my place don’t check unless necessary (laboring too early, past due date, possible complications, etc)

Fine by me - I would be the type to psych myself out if I was, say, 1 cm for 3 weeks in a row... 😂
