Period/pcos question?

Anyway my husband and I have been ttc for 2 months but have had un protected sex for nearly 4-5 years with no pregnancies. (Not even a scare) I don't get my period that often, actually since 16 to now (24) I've had maybe 10-15 periods. I've been to at least 3 or 4 doctors about it and they've just started to assume I have pcos. But other than my very irregular cycles I have no other symptoms of pcos. I am over weight but like I said it's been like this since I was 16.

My question is really has this happened to anyone else ever? And could this drastically effect our chances of having kids? We're trying out some ovulation tests but I read on the package that pcos might effect the outcome....

Been over weight is a symptom. And when your over weight your hormones are out of control and you don't have regular periods or you don't have any at all
 Let me tell this to you. Ever since I was 17 I need med. Like birth control to bring on a period. But last year I went on a juice fast for months. Lost 45 pounds and my hormones healed themselves.  I have had a regular period ever since. The only time I did not was when I got pregnant. ..yes 8 months after a juice fast I became pregnant for the first time ever. So for anyone with PCOS that has not found a way to conceive naturally ( without drugs like clomid metformin) please try juicing and losing weight. Juicing helps with healing your body matter of fact when I got in ultrasound on my ovaries I only had one small cyst in the right side when before juicing I had many on both side hope this helps.

I also have PCOS and either no or only a few cysts on one ovary. The other appears to be fine. I was/am overweight and recently lost about 40 lbs. with another 40 to go to my goal weight. Metformin changed my life (as did crossfit). Since losing some of that weight, I find I am more regular than I have been in my entire life. I started my period at the age of 10, and every cycle was a surprise. I have skipped for 5 months and bled every single day for 3 months at a time. I've had 60 day cycles and 2 periods on one month. I feel your pain. For me, changing my diet, taking herbs and vitamins, and exercising to pull off the excess weight made all the difference in the world for me. We, too, are TTC and I have never been pregnant. I am confident, however, that our day is coming. Just work on your overall health and keep going!

I don't really have my period every month too sometime it will skip almost a years. But anyways, my older daughter will be 14 years this years and my baby boy just turn 8 months this month. We been trying so many years. God is miracle. 😀

So have you asked them about progesterone? It basically forces you to start your period again. I believe when taken correctly, it will help regulate your cycle.

I have PCOS and it took doctors a while to figure that out because I'm thin. I haven't ovulated or had a period on my own without medication in 7 years. I track my bbt on this glow app and that has been the most accurate for showing ovulation. I've been researching PCOS a lot because I'd like to get pregnant again without any medication. I've learned that women with PCOS tend to be insulin resistant. A PCOS website recommended a bunch of books and one was Jillian Michaels Master Your Metabolism. I read it and started doing as much of it as I could. I thought I was healthy before but the book had a lot of great information. Within a month of changing my diet I ovulated for the first time all by myself. It's awesome! I feel like the best changes I made were cutting out all white flour, sugar, and potatoes. I increased my consumption of vegetables and omega 3's, and I switched to hormone free dairy.

My only symptoms of PCOS when first diagnosed was 43 day cycle and no ovulating in the cycle. I had no cysts. I had the skin darkening in between my legs by the crotch and some body  acne. I read online some of the other symptoms and I had some of those too like  depression sometimes and lower sex drive. I've been over weight my whole life but think mine didn't kick in till the last 2 yrs and I'm 30 now. I've lost 27 pds now since February by eating low carb and walking when I can. I'm on a 28 day cycle and ovulating most of the cycles with some help from Clomid, metaformin and some supplements.

Your doc needs to run blood work and hormone levels. You can have pcos without cysts, its an endocrine disorder and can usually be managed really well with proper diet and supplements. Your doc definitely needs to try something to get you regulated, every 3 months you go without having a period increases the risk of endometrial cancer. Even with pcos though, you can conceive, it just usually takes longer and may require meds to help you ovulate. And temping is the best way to track ovulation with pcos as opks can be misleading and hormone fluctuations can affect cervical mucous. Good luck!!

I'm going thru somewhat the same but I have the symptoms of pcos but no cysts as my doctor said. I would get checked if I was you and if your doctor isn't any help go for a second opinion else where. I've seen success stories here with women who have it and have gotten their bfp. Good luck!
