Weening an 18 mo!

My son is totally cool with not nursing during the day, but for the life of me cannot get him to ween at night! he wakes up multiple times to nurse! We co sleep and plan to ween him of that at 2 which is what we did with our daughter's with no problem. But they were not nursed. He is my first nursed baby so I feel like this is all new to me. He screams bloody murder until I give in, he's never taken a bottle nor pacifier. My MIL always told me that he wouldn't need them and that he's ween himself, like many other things, she was wrong! (please keep negative comments to yo self)
