Horrible day yesterday

Ja

In my home town this weekend there is Market day, 2 Wedding’s, 2 fishing competition and Basketball tournament with who knows how many out of town teams playing and how many teams being represented.

So yesterday (Saturday) I was busy all day at work and I couldn’t finish the load from Friday night. Between trying to get another worker access to the new register system and our boss coming as a customer and saying “O Wow” as she walked into the bottle shop to our boss telling my “if the supermarket wants to use her staff they need to call her first”. I was ropable and when our boss left I was really emotional and crying out of frustration while working the load and leaving my coworker to process customer sales.

I’d been at work for 5 hours with no brakes and was meant to go on my hour lunch at 3 but couldn’t go because of my coworker not having access to the register system. It took 3 supermarket workers (two of them my friends) to force me to go to lunch. So I went to lunch at 4 I go gone had my cry and lunch and reluctantly went back I had another 5 hours to work.

Before the supermarket workers forced to to go on lunch I told one of them (my friend) I was ready to walk out and leave my job for good.

So today is going to be interesting when I go to work I’m waiting for my boss to give me a lecture “why wasn’t this done, you should have called this worker in but she was used by the supermarket so you couldn’t use her” and she will just continue. I’m not allowed to call people in or make shift up out of nowhere and I was to busy to call or text my boss to get someone in.

My boss doesn’t like it when the supermarket calls myself or my coworker into work a shift on the checkouts, we are all registered trained you think it wouldn’t matter but my boss wants the supermarket to call her to see if we can work a shift for them and if our boss says no then we can’t work. Yesterday one of my coworker was working on checkouts and my boss wasn’t happy about that she was going to yell at the checkout manager on the store phone but the checkout manager didn’t contact my boss she was busy training her own staff.

My coworker who the supermarket calling to work is a single mother of a 9 year old and unfortunately when I came back from medical leave after losing our son. She lost a lot of hours because she was working mine and I’m contracted permit hours, so no she doesn’t get many hours she is luck to get one 3 hour shift a week so when the supermarket rang her with a 6 hour shift she agreed to work I would have done the same. Our boss has no problems using the supermarket staff when it suits her but when they need our help we aren’t allowed to help them.

My coworkers and I are nice people and will help others at a drop of the hat but our boss won’t let any of us she is making all of us look like bad people because she always kicks up a stink when one of us do help the supermarket ‘without asking her if we can’ she treats us like kids not the adults we are.

Our boss is in her 50’s the 2IC is in her 40’s I’m 32 and my coworkers are 31 (single Mum) and the younger 3 and between 20 and 25.
