Kinda upset about promise ring

So my bf of 5 years got me a promise ring for our anniversary. We are in college and still young. I always wanted a promise ring because I think it's cute and we are long distance so it's hard sometimes to feel like we are "really dating" since we don't go see each other that often. Well the ring is sooo pretty and I wear it everyday but I absolutely hate how he gave it to me. Honestly he basically tossed me the mailing box that it was in. I had to open the mailing box and then pull out the ring as he was busy on his phone. Like I didn't need him to make a big deal or get down on a knee but he acted to ungenuine about it. I wanted to say something but feel like I shouldn't complain. I just don't get why he couldn't have handed it to me and been sweet/polite. Do I keep my mouth shut? Sorry it's just been on my mind.
