How much do you spend on baby clothes in the first year?

I’m doing some budgeting for LO and I was saying about 1600 for baby clothes for the first year. SO said I’m crazy. I figured like 400 per size (0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12). Does this seem reasonable or am I really crazy? What did you spend on clothes in the first year?

I spend quite a bit. I just spent $300 on winter stuff but I probably go overboard. I shop at Baby Gap mostly, as well as Target and The Children’s Place

Depends on if you feel you need to pay full price. After my first I learned my lesson. All resale shops after that. I fill no longer pay more than $3 for shirts, shorts, pants. Slightly more for outerwear. There’s just no reason to spend more, especially if you’re on a budget

I would say that’s about how much I spent... but I could have done with less. I invested in good quality pieces when they were on sale, because i am hoping to use them for future babies as well

All of my money!! But seriously they grow so quick and there is so much puke and poop that happens :) I shopped at “once upon a child,” not because I couldn’t afford to buy brand new but because that’s where my family always shops for our LOs. They have nice stuff, it’s much cheaper then new so you can get so much more for your money!

I can't imagine spending a shit ton of money on clothes for a baby...they don't give a shit what they look like. I don't even spend that much money on my clothes. In all honestly you really only need 7-10 outfits per size range. So maybe 28-40 outfits total. That's coming from a non-mom and hopefully never a mom to a baby though 😂😂

Most of my NB, 0-3, and 3-6 was gifted. But at the most I’d spend 200 on a size. I try to limit myself to 10 outfits and I try to buy when Carters is having a nice sale (they fit his body best). I just bought his 24m wardrobe and it came in under 200 but I probably forgot something and/or I’ll see something cute I need to buy.

$400 per size? That's insane. I've done lots of shopping but I don't spend full price. Every single store has sales, that's when I've stocked up. Baby gap had 40% off all clearance and Gymboree just had 60% off clearance. I got so many outfits for about $200.

$400 per size?! 😮 my lord. I spent maybe $100 the first year and that's being generous. After my baby shower we had clothes coming out of our ears. What I didn't like I returned or exchanged.  And so many things he never wore or only wore once ☹️

Thats waay too much. I shopped as the baby grew and never went months advanced. I didnt buy anything the first months because I used what I got from my shower. A newborn does not need a lot of clothes. Theyre in onsies and footed jammies til theyre crawling
